M-powerhouse.org M-PowerHouse is a multidisciplinary model designed to address the economic, educational and health factors which impact youth violence. The name was conceived by co-founder Harry P. Marshall, Jr., MD who combined the words empower (definition – to give ability to; enable) and house (definition – the people who live in a house, considered a unit, a social group.) He then changed the “em-“ of empower to M-power to lift up the names of Martin Luther King, Jr., Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall, Nelson Mandela, and Morehouse College all of whom have had a great influence on his life. |

Please allow me to introduce to you HEALED Inc., a 501 c 3 faith based organization, located in Roxboro and serving Person County as well as the surrounding areas. HEALED stands for Help- Equip, Advance, Liberate, Educate, and Develop, the needs of the people in the community. We fill the gaps that exist between government services and community needs by providing services to at risk and under served youth as well as their families. HEALED also serves as an umbrella agency which assists smaller nonprofit organizations in increasing their program capacity. At the present time, in addition to umbrella agency services, staff and volunteers are working to provide after school, performing arts, and recreational activities, as well as community prayer events. |
